The collection of Vices and Virtues is a compilation of madrigals and secular music from works of the Uppsala songbook (Duke of Calabria), irreverent villancicos like those of Juan del Encina, and works by Claudio Monteverdi, which marked the transition from the Renaissance to the Baroque and the birth of opera.
