The 2nd edition of the Garrigues Guitar Festival-Memorial Emili Pujol will take place from today, Monday, June 17, until September 14. In this interview, the coordinator of the contest, Jordi Pizarro, member of the Cercle Guitarrístic a Catalunya, explains to us that there will be 3 more concerts than in last year’s edition and that, in addition, formulas have been sought to combine music with plucked string instruments with local products. These are “experiences with the senses” and consist of listening to concerts in places such as Mas Blanch i Jové, the Clos Pons winery or the Miravall farmhouse while the public enjoys a wine tasting or a gastronomic tasting.
On the other hand, as another novelty, from July 1 to 7, the first International Guitar, Llaüt and Vihuela Course will take place, a course aimed at intermediate, higher and professional level students. The different classes will be individual and group, and throughout the week there will also be workshops, conferences, talks and visits. In addition, students from the Les Garrigues music schools will participate in the festival this year.
The towns in which these concerts will take place – which have the objective of recovering and remembering the maestro Emili Pujol, from Granadella – are Juneda, Granadella, Borges Blanques, Pobla de Cérvoles, Albagés and Arbeca. In addition, the presentation will take place today, Monday at the Institut d’Estudis Ilerdencs (IEI) in Lleida, at 7:30 p.m. You can consult more information and the complete festival program here.
